Coronavirus Information

Updated 03/02/22
The safety and wellbeing of the BPRC community is our highest priority and we continue to monitor the changeable situation; adopting the advice from England Athletics amongst others, to ensure the welfare of our members, staff and public.
The first event after the initial lockdown was on the 15th of August 2021 and lasted 12 weeks; from that and following the restart on 04/04/21 we found the need to make small changes to the proceedings.
Things have now settled down and participants have become accustomed to the adopted plan.
Therefore, we are hopeful that the Saturday events over all distances can continue for the foreseeable future.
However, for all participants that wish to register, there is a need to read the following instructions, under:

Update

Have patience and digest the following.

The attendance at the C25K has varied over the initial events, and, as the registrations increase week-on-week, the club continues to move forward, only adopting new strategy if necessary changes evolve.
Following the lifting of the government’s restrictions we have adhered to their guidance and that of English Athletics on conducting outdoor events.
We have:
  • A risk assessment
  • Permission from our insurer
  • Permission from the council
All which enables a safe, as possible, event.

The long-winded way forward

Therefore:
One of the many decisions we have made to aid safety is to provide every participant with RFiD-wristband.
As many will know the club isn’t awash with funds and hasn’t, in the past, asked for no more than the amount to cover annual insurance cost - which we have waived for 2021.
The club set up many new procedures; moving the start to reduce congestion at the first pinch point; very few direction signs to avoid contamination and the need to provide individuals with their own RFiD to minimise hand to hand contact.
The club has nowhere near enough funds to purchase the number of RFiD required to supply all the current membership.
The RFiD cost £8 each, and:
• all adults that have registered to-date have been willing to pay for theirs at an asking price of £8 for life
• every child under 16 will be given one for free (in some cases their parents have made a donation on their behalf)
It is anticipated that the majority of new registrations, who haven't previously donated towards RFiD, will cover the cost of this purchase.
Thereby, ensuring we are solvent and able to pay our way in the future.
If anyone leaves the club, or after a year of none-participation, they will be asked to return the item and reimbursement of £5 of the initial purchase price will be made.
Therefore, as participants return to their first event, they will be issued with RFiD, the identity number of which will be logged along with the owner’s bib number, at the same time as updating their contact details - which we need in the event of contact tracing.
We will no longer need to collect any information from participants at the start or finish; only any changes in the distance covered or in case of failure to finish.
